grey herons

During the Covid lockdown in 2020 I rented a house next to Lake Seliger in Central Russia. While strolling along the lake, I heard loud bird calls coming from above. There was a huge grey heron colony - they build their nests high up in the trees for optimal overview of their surroundings. I carefully observed the colony with my drone for 4 months - keeping distance and always using low- noise propellers so not to disturb them. In March there was still snow all around and the herons sat on their huge blue eggs, and in July the eggs hatched and these youngsters were off flying into the new world.
